Students Awarded Scholarships from State Organizations

So far, it's been a lucrative summer for two public
Undergraduate student Timothy Hill was named the 2017 recipient
of a $1,200 scholarship from the Florida State Association of
Supervisors of Elections at the organization's annual
The Joel Oldmixon Scholarship, named after the former Supervisor
of Elections for Escambia County, is one of several scholarships
that FSASE awards annually to students in Florida. Orange County
Supervisor of Elections nominated Hill for the scholarship based on
his involvement in UCF and the community.
Hill currently serves as an office assistant for the Student
Academic Resource Center at UCF as well as a research assistant for
SPA. He is also pursuing a summer internship with the Orange County
Fire and Rescue Administration.
Hill is also active with the school's student organizations. He
was recently appointed president of the International City and
County Management Association student chapter and vice president of
the Organization for Public Administration.
"Timothy has aspirations of one day becoming a city manager, and
from all that I have seen, he had the determination and smarts to
become that and more," Cowles said in a release.
Krizia Maldonado, also an undergraduate, received the Florida
Executive Women Scholarship, worth $3,000, from Florida Executive
Each year, FEW awards four $3,000 scholarships one student at
four local colleges and universities: UCF, Seminole State College
of Florida, Valencia College and the Hamilton Holt School at
Rollins College. To strengthen the competition, the recipient must
be a woman of junior or senior standing who resides in Orange,
Seminole, Brevard, Lake, Volusia or Osceola counties.
