Public administrators are embracing innovative ideas and engaging citizens to transform their communities to be more resilient and sustainable. These ideas originate across different focus areas including environmental management, financial management, strategic planning, emergency management, planning, economic development, and public administration. This conference brings together practitioners and academics from multiple disciplines and across sectors to discuss current resiliency and sustainability trends.
Dr. Frances L. Edwards, San Jose State University and National Transportation Security Center, will present, “All Hazards, Whole Community: Creating Resiliency,” during the morning plenary. Concurrent presentation sessions will highlight results from case studies, showcase how communities address resiliency and sustainability issues in light of resource constraints, and include an academic and practitioner exchange. Joyce Shanahan, City Manager of Ormond Beach and incoming FCCMA President, will present on the value of public service during the luncheon keynote address. The conference will conclude with Pi Alpha Alpha inductions.
Mark your calendars and plan to join fellow emergency managers, planners, city and county managers, elected officials, nonprofit managers, faculty, staff, and students from across Central Florida and the state to learn more about how local governments and regions are creating resilient and sustainable communities.
