Q: How many credit hours are required for completion of the program?

A: The Master of Science in Health Care Informatics will be awarded upon completion of appropriate prerequisite course work and 36 credits of prescribed graduate study. Credits must be taken in health-services management, health care informatics, research practicum/thesis, a symposium course and a seminar on health care informatics research.

A: The program is designed to be able to be completed in 20 months (this requires enrolling in every semester: summer, fall, and spring).

Q:What are the admission requirements?

A: Admission requirements for the health care informatics program include a bachelor's degree and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to those who have had practical experiences in clinical and managerial areas.

Letters of recommendations, resume and a statement of interest are also required.

A: For student classified as Florida residents, the cost per credit hour is $777.63 per credit hour ($2,332.89 per 3 hour class).*Fees are subject to change

Q:How do I register for courses?

A: The Division of Continuing Education will handle course enrollment for each semester once you have been admitted to the program and you have processed your acceptance through Graduate Studies.

Q: How can I use this degree?

A: The health care informatics program is unique in that it will focus on providing students with a thorough grounding in the clinical, management and business aspects of the health informatics field. Graduates can work as practitioners, managers, analysts and researchers. Numerous openings have been announced in several environments, including health centers and health insurance companies.

Q:How do I get the degree?

A: After you have been registered for your final semester, you must submit an intent to graduate form. Upon completion of your final semester, the graduate office will certify that you have met all requirements of the degree program. Your degree will then be mailed to you.

Q:Is there an instructor involved or is everything automated?

A: The program will be offered through an online, distance- learning format to offer access and convenience to working professionals. Each course is led by an instructor. There are discussion boards as well as course mail to interact with the instructor as well as fellow classmates.

Q:Is there any requirement for me to visit the campus?

A:Students will take classes online and there are no requirements for students to come to campus.

Q: If I withdraw from the program, can I be readmitted?

A: If you do not enroll for two or more consecutive semesters, you will have to reapply for admission. Readmission is not guaranteed and the tuition and fees are subject to change from your initial enrollment.

A: Students must achieve a grade of "B" (3.0) or better in every core course.
