Community Involvement

DPT Community Involvement 1Students in UCF's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program are actively engaged in service opportunities throughout the immediate community and beyond.

Community service opportunities include assisting at the Disney Marathon, Special Olympics, Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk, and many other events. These opportunities are diverse, affording students plenty of options for participation in an area of interest.

The UCF DPT program also incorporates varied interprofessional learning experiences throughout the curriculum.  These events include students from many programs including the College of Medicine, UF Pharmacy, College of Education, College of Nursing, College of Engineering, Department of Communication Sciences, and many more.  Events are varied including clinical course work, service learning opportunities, and social events.

It was great to see Jennifer [Plant] honored with the statewide Athletic Trainer of the Year Award. She is an exceptional teacher, a professional leader and an amazing colleague.
— Kristen Schellhase,  Interim Chair, Athletic Training Director
The event [for children with disabilities] was a huge success. We had about 30 children, and the students did a phenomenal job. I'm already receiving inquiries about next year's event.
