Clinical Education

UCF's Athletic Training Program clinical rotations (Practicum in Athletic Training I, II, III and IV) are designed to provide experience in high school, rehabilitation clinic, industry, arts and university settings. In addition, care is taken to expose athletic training students to upper- and lower-extremity sports, equipment-intensive sports, high- and low-risk sports, male and female sports, and sites with clients who have general medical conditions. The diversity of these clinical rotations exposes students to almost all areas in which athletic trainers can be employed.

The AT Program is currently affiliated with a wide variety of clinical education sites. The current sites include, but are not limited to:

  • University of Central Florida Athletics Association
  • University of Central Florida Recreation and Wellness Center
  • Rollins College
  • Orange County Public Schools
  • Seminole County Public School
  • Sports Specific Training/Orlando Predators
  • Kennedy Space Center RehabWorks
  • Orlando Sports Medicine Group
  • Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Bishop Moore Catholic School
  • Trinity Preparatory School
  • Lake Highland Preparatory School
  • Orlando Solar Bears
  • Stetson University
  • Rockledge High School

"The athletic training students do an absolutely great job," said Assistant Athletic Trainer Jud Fann, a 2003 graduate of UCF's athletic training program. "They're a huge asset to what we do."

It was great to see Jennifer [Plant] honored with the statewide Athletic Trainer of the Year Award. She is an exceptional teacher, a professional leader and an amazing colleague.
— Kristen Schellhase,  Interim Chair, Athletic Training Director
The event [for children with disabilities] was a huge success. We had about 30 children, and the students did a phenomenal job. I'm already receiving inquiries about next year's event.
