Vance Named State's Most Outstanding HIM Student

ORLANDO, June 19, 2009 — Janine Vance has been named the 2009 Outstanding Student by the Florida Health Information Management Association (FHIMA). She will receive her award at the membership luncheon on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, which is part of the annual meeting to be held here in Orlando.

Program Director Alice Nobline wrote the following about this outstanding student:

Janine is an excellent student who produces consistently high-quality work. She is meticulous in completing all assignments, and has maintained a 3.99 GPA.

Janine has received numerous honors for both her excellent academic achievements and her good citizenship on campus. She received the COHPA Founder's Day award as well as the 2009 Outstanding Student Award for HIM from the Department of Health Management and Informatics.

Janine has been involved with the student organization, SHIMA, in all of her semesters in the HIM program. She currently serves as secretary, but took an active role in the organization prior to becoming an officer.

Janine works in HIM at the UCF student health center and was an active participant in the internships and site visits she completed. According to her management affiliation clinical supervisor, "Janine sets the bar high for future HIM students."
