"Bernard Owiredu" Appointed King of Region in Ghana
Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, ’01 (health services administration), known as “Bernard Owiredu” when at UCF, was appointed king or “nana” for life of the Akwamu Traditional Council in Ghana, Africa. The queen mother of the Akwamu traditional area selected him for the appointment based on his royal lineage (the queen mother is his aunt) and accomplishments, which include his degree from UCF and a successful career. As king, he oversees 45 chiefs of varying levels from 26 towns. He also works as a health services administrator at Tema General Hospital in the seaport city of Tema and is an executive M.B.A. student at the University of Ghana.

Rashard Johnson Named V.P. at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
Rashard Johnson (B.S., HSA, '04; M.S., HSA, '06) currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas, where he was named assistant vice president for support services at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. "My UCF graduate program provided me with the base for establishing a robust career in the healthcare industry. My curriculum focused on strategy, operations, and increasing quality and access while implementing cost containment initiatives. These are vital components of the healthcare industry and key strategies for taking care of patients."

Sitarik Ready to Head Up Orlando Health in South Downtown Orlando
Sherri Sitarik (M.S., HSA, '93) has been appointed president and CEO of Orlando Health, a $1.7 billion nonprofit health care organization. She begins her appointment on Jan. 1, 2011.
