Students Assist Special Olympics Florida Athletes

ORLANDO, May 30, 2009 — On May 15 and 16, students from UCF's Doctorate in
Physical Therapy program volunteered to assist athletes at the Special Olympics Florida
games held at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando.

The second-year students were led by Bill Hanney, instructor of physical therapy at UCF.

Also assisting was Tom Langer (M.S. in physical therapy, '08), a Healthy Athletes
program manager for the Special Olympics. Langer became involved with Special
Olympics while he was a physical therapy student at UCF.

UCF's physical therapy students regularly support the Special Olympics games.

At the May 2009 games, 1,550 atheletes of all ages and skill levels competed in track
and field, soccer, cycling, tennis, bocce and volleyball.
