ORLANDO, Oct. 20, 2009 — Members of the college's Dean's Undergraduate Student Leadership Council for 2009-1010 gathered today for their first meeting with the Dean Michael Frumkin and other key administrators.
The council comprises students from each of the college's 11 undergraduate programs. Each student was selected for the council by his or her program director — a recognition that is to be commended, said Pam Kirby, associate dean for undergraduate studies and operations. "These students are also officers within their respective student organizations," Kirby noted.
Over an informal luncheon, Frumkin
shared news about the college. In turn, the students offered reports on their academic programs and student activities.
The group also heard from Judy Sindlinger, director of Undergraduate Student Services, and Katie Korkosz, assistant director of development and alumni relations.
Among the topics discussed were ways to increase student involvement in service activities and opportunities to interact with alumni from the college. The group agreed to meet again this fall to discuss plans for a future collegewide service project.
"I always look forward to opportunities to meet and talk with our
students," Frumkin said.
