COLLEGEWIDE

COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS SCHOLARSHIP
- Must have completed 90 semester hours and be classified a senior enrolled in the College of Health and Public Affairs
- Must have a minimum overall 3.2 GPA
- Must be enrolled in 12 semester hours during semester of award
- Must provide a brief essay (one page, double spaced, 12 point font) on why he/she is applying for the scholarship and what personal and professional goals he/she hopes to achieve in the next 10 years
- Must provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty member from the College of Health and Public Affairs
AWARD: 2 scholarships will be given ($1,000 each)

HEALTH RESOURCES AND SERVICES ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS
- Must be admitted to one of the following academic programs in COHPA:
    • Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders
    • Master of Science in Health Sciences - Health Services Administration (HSA) Track
    • Master of Social Work (MSW)
    • Bachelor of Science (or Arts) in Communication Sciences and Disorders
    • Bachelor of Science in Radiological Sciences

- Must be enrolled full-time (based on academic program’s enrollment requirements) in the semesters scholarship is received
- Must be in good academic standing at UCF
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must submit a FAFSA
- Must provide proof of economic disadvantaged background as defined by federal program guidelines
AWARD: Varies – may be up to total amount of tuition and fees

JOHN L. MICA PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
- Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Health and Public Affairs 
- Must be a sophomore, junior or senior
- Must have a minimum overall 2.5 GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for 2009-2010
- Must be actively pursuing a career in public service as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer service or employment
- Must provide a brief essay (one page, double spaced, 12 point font) on his/her career aspirations and involvement in public service

- Must provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- Must provide a 250 word narrative describing his/her plan for a career in the security profession, including degrees and/or professional development courses, applicable memberships and specific areas of interest
AWARD: $1000 for 1 undergraduate student and $500 for 1 graduate student

DREAM FOR A SAFER COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP sponsored by Fifth Third Bank
- Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time undergraduate student majoring in criminal justice
- Must have a minimum overall 2.5 GPA
-Preference will be given to those students who have passed or currently enrolled in CJE 3444 (Crime Prevention)
- Must be at least a junior or senior
- Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for 2009-2010
- Must provide a 500 word narrative describing his/her dream career in criminal justice, and how he/she would apply his or her best crime prevention ideas to help the field and community progress in crime prevention
- Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate involvement in clubs and organizations, volunteer leadership positions, and community service particularly in crime prevention related activities

- Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student majoring in criminal justice
- Must provide a 750 word narrative describing his/her career goals
- Must be pursuing a career in the criminal justice field in law enforcement (local, state or federal) and must not have a criminal record
- Must be available to interview with the scholarship committee and attend a Rotary Club Breakfast for presentation of the award (if selected)

- Must be enrolled as graduate student in the College of Health and Public Affairs’ masters program in Health Care Informatics.

- Preference shall be given to students who are currently employed health care providers in the field of nursing or other working health professionals

- Must be enrolled as full-time or part-time undergraduate student, entering their senior year, in the health information management program

- Must have a minimum overall 2.8 GPA and overall 3.3 HPA in health information management course work
- Must attach a current resume and 2 letters of recommendation
- Must submit 250 word answer to each of the following questions:
1. Please state your views on the importance of each of the following as it may affect your future in the HIM profession:
a. Continuing education (formal or informal)
b. Participation in professional organizations (now and in the future)
